Uniport Students Put University of Port Harcourt On Shutdown!

The university of Port Harcourt students went on a Protest this morning. The students were supposed to begin their first semester exams today the 11th of April, but things turned out differently when they were stopped from writing their exams for failure to pay their school fees.

Sources gathered that the University just increased the school fees of the Institution from #17,000 to #45,000. This new school fees structure has made it difficult for the students to pay their fees, not forgetting the Economic crisis the country seems to be in.

The students decided to go on a protest this morning to fight for their rights, because if they aren’t allowed to write their exams they would have set backs in their academics, not forgetting the final year students that would have an automatic extra year.

These are my thoughts (Truth) on this issue;
1.       The federal Government haven’t paid workers their salary yet.
2.       How are parents supposed to pay their children’s school fees?
3.       For crying out loud, this is a Federal University! There should be some sort of understanding…
Things shouldn’t have gotten to this level, based on the picture above…
well, just saying…
