The Academic Staff Union Of The Universities (ASUU), has commenced an indefinite Nation wide strike, today the 1st of June 2013.Dr Nasir, made his declaration on Monday, at the University of Lagos, after their NEC meeting held at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
While speaking with news men. he said, "we are embarking on an indefinite strike Nation wide, because the Federal Government Reneged in the memorandum of understanding MOU, signed with ASUU in 2009, to pay lecturers their earn allowance". According to Dr Nasir, in 2009, the Federal Government made a law to pay each lecturer N12500 per month as earned allowance, which it never did since 2009.
