Three Students Killed By Police At The University Of Uyo.

Three students protesting were shot dead by the police at the University of Uyo, over #200 transport fees. Eye witnesses said it started out as a peaceful protest but later turned into a violent attack on the school property, which lead to the burning down of the Vice chancellor’s office, the school gate and other school properties. Sources disclosed that the students were demonstrating against the introduction of transport fees, because according to them, buses were provided to help ease the stress of students that lived in the mini campuses, making it easier for them to go to school, from the distance between the campuses , and transportation was made free. Only for them to wake up one morning to go to school, hearing that fees had been added to shuttle buses “over- night”. So they decided to make a peaceful protest, but this turned into a catastrophe. “The police started firing teargas at the students and this made the students to respond by turning violent. The students started hurling whatever objects, they could lay their hands on at the police and blocked all the entrances and exits locations in the school, and The police responded by shooting at the students” said one of the sources. The single person in one of the pictures above, is Kingsley Umoette, one of the three unfortunate students of The University of Uyo, Akwa ibom State, that was shot by the police. May their soulss, Rest in peace.
