Role Model of The Day

Think? uni9ja

Our Role Model of the day, is a double doze because we have our first, who is an American Singer, Song Writer, and Producer... His name is John Roger Stephens also called John Legend. John went to the University of Pennsylvania and earned an English degree with a concentration in African American literature. After College, he worked for a Boston consulting firm before fulling focusing on music. The second is an American Rapper and Actor, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, known by his stage name, Common. Lynn's parents divorced when he was six years. He attended Florida A&M University for two years under a scholarship and majored in business administration.

John Legend in his full element!

After Common and John Legend took the best original song Oscar for their Selma song "Glory" at the 2015 Oscars, John Legend and Common took the opportunity to speak about numerous problems in the society that have remained unresolved even 50 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr.'s march;

Common, a vibe all day!

Common gave his speech, by saying "the bridge Dr. King and his protestors marched across is no longer just a symbol for Civil Rights -it's a symbol for discrimination based on "race, gender, religion, sexual orientation and social status. this is for the kid from the South Side of Chicago to those in France standing up for freedom of expression to those in Hong Kong for democracy."

Legend continued in his own speech, "Nina Simone said it's an artist's duty to reflect the times we're in. Selma is now because the struggle for justice is right now. We live in the most incarcerated country in the world. There are more black men under correctional control today than there were in slavery in 1850."

This speech very moving and one of the highlights of the nights that evening at the Oscars. Recalling this moment, where these men were an inspiration to the youths all over the World, we would like to say thank you for being our Role Model for the day!
